Big 30 Football Charities Classic coaching staffs announced

The Big 30 Football Charities Classic coaching staffs for both Pennsylvania and New York have been released.
Chad Bartoszek, coach of Salamanca, will be the head coach of New York. Chad has been a head coach for 12 years, He has been the head coach at Salamanca for six years, and was the head coach at Franklinville/Ellicottville for six years prior. This will be Chad’s third time being involved in the Big 30 game. He was a player in 1999 and had coached the game on a previous occasion.

His list of awards and accomplishments are long. He was the Big 30 Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015, 2023, 2024. He was the 2023 WNNY Coach of the Year, 2023 Buffalo Bills Coach of the Year, and League Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
For Pennsylvania, Otto-Eldred coach Troy Cook will be the head coach. He has been a head coach for seven years, and an assistant for six. In 2024, he led Otto-Eldred to a 7-2 record while being named District 9 Region 3 Coach of the Year.
Cook has had a very influential senior class at Otto-Eldred. Receivers Manning Splain, Davey Schenfield and Shene Thomas always gave opponents fits down the field. Hunter App was also a key senior at running back and linebacker.

Paul Furlong (Salamanca assistant) will be part of the New York staff. He played in the Big 30 game in 1988. He is a 1995 Fairmont State University graduate, where he was a member of the baseball team in 1991 and 1992. He also coached Fairmont State from 1993 to 1995. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University with a master’s degree in 2001.
He started his coaching career in 1992 and has coached varsity, JV, and freshman football. In addition, he has coached softball, girls basketball, volleyball, college basketball and football.
This is the third time Paul has coached in the Big 30 game, and his family has a long history with the Big 30 Charities Classic. His brother played for New York in 1982 and his cousin played in that same year for Pennsylvania. Paul was the assistant coach for the 2008 and 2013 games. His son, Eric, played in the 2023 game. And his son, Keegan, played in 2024.
Both Cook and Bartoszek are bringing along their coaching staffs with them to coach the game. The other Salamanca assistants include modified coach Seth Hostetler, defensive coordinator Aaron Hill, junior varsity coach Jerry Parisi, and assistant Greg Herrick.
Rounding out the Otto-Eldred staff are assistants Shawn Rounsville, Boyd Fitzsimmons, and Chris Schwab. Cameron Magee is the special teams coach while Josh Rounsville is the receivers and defensive backs coach.
The game will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2 at Parkway Field in Bradford, PA. New York won last year 39-18, their first time winning the game since 2015.
